corporate finance, M&A, debt advisory, credit analysis,
restructuring and actuarial.
Founded Gazelle in 1996, following 15 years as a Director of Morgan Grenfell and Close Brothers, and previously Robert Fleming & Co. Trained initially as an investment analyst, moving to corporate finance, M&A and debt restructuring.
Paul Thornton OBE
Paul has overall responsibility for the PA team. He joined Gazelle in 2006 from Watson Wyatt, where he was the Senior Partner and acted as Scheme Actuary to schemes with £50 billion of assets overall including a major UK clearing bank. He was President of the Institute of Actuaries 1998-2000 and is currently President of the International Actuarial Association. In 2007 he led an independent Review of Pensions Institutions (and the UK pensions regulatory framework) for the Department of Work and Pensions.
Donald joined Gazelle in 2006 from JP Morgan Cazenove in 2005 to help establish Gazelle's Pensions Advisory service, bringing 11 years' corporate finance experience in advising both the boards of major investment funds and UK companies on capital markets and M&A activity. Prior to this he was a banking and capital markets lawyer with Clifford Chance.
Deborah joined Gazelle in 2011 with over 20 years international corporate finance experience at BDO Stoy Hayward, Deloitte and Lonrho plc, advising on both buy and sell-side transactions, re-organisations and stakeholder realization.
Joined Gazelle from Barclays Capital in 2007. She was previously with ABN Amro working as a senior credit analyst and managing a portfolio of distressed assets and, prior to that at PwC, in Australia, as an advisor in restructuring services.
Richard has been with Gazelle since 2005 and brings extensive corporate finance experience, with particular focus on transaction management and corporate disposals. Prior to this, Richard was with Ernst & Young in South Africa.
Varan joined Gazelle in 2009 from PwC where he carried out audit and accounting assessments on a number of major companies. He has also worked on a variety of risk assessment and restructuring projects, specifically in the financial services and banking sectors.
Nick joined Gazelle in 2010 from Begbies Traynor where he carried out investigative reporting and restructuring assignments for creditors and companies. Prior to that he qualified as an accountant at Ernst & Young.
